How to Set Up Scheduling on Your Squarespace Website
If you offer appointments, consultations, classes, or other bookable services, adding a scheduling system to your website makes it much easier for customers to book with you.
In this article, we'll go over how to set up Acuity Scheduling with Squarespace, as well as other free and affordable scheduling options you can use if Acuity isn't the right fit for your business.
Setting Up Acuity Scheduling
Acuity Scheduling is Squarespace's built-in scheduling platform. It connects directly with your Squarespace website and allows customers to view your availability and book appointments online.
Acuity is a separate service from your Squarespace website subscription, so you'll need an Acuity subscription after the trial period.
Step 1: Open Acuity Scheduling
From your Squarespace dashboard, open Scheduling or Acuity Scheduling.
If you haven't used Acuity before, Squarespace will walk you through creating your account and starting your trial.
Enter your basic business information and make sure your time zone is correct.
Step 2: Create Your Appointment Types
Appointment types are the services your customers can book.
For example:
30-Minute Wellness Consultation
60-Minute Wellness Coaching Session
90-Minute Reiki Session
Holistic Nutrition Consultation
Initial Consultation
For each appointment type, add the:
Name
Description
Duration
Price, if applicable
Location
Keep your appointment names clear and descriptive. Someone should immediately understand what they're booking.
Step 3: Set Your Availability & Booking Rules
Next, set the days and times you're available for appointments. You can also connect your personal or business calendar to help prevent double bookings.
Then set any booking rules you need, such as:
How far in advance someone can book
How soon before an appointment someone can book
Buffer time between appointments
Cancellation policy
Rescheduling policy
Set these before sending customers to your booking page so your calendar reflects your actual availability.
Step 4: Add Client Questions & Payments
Use Acuity's intake forms to collect information you need before an appointment.
For example, a wellness coach might ask:
What would you like support with?
What are your primary goals for this session?
Is there anything you'd like me to know before we meet?
Keep your questions relevant to the appointment. A simple consultation doesn't need a huge questionnaire. If customers need to pay when booking, connect your payment processor and choose the payment setup that works for your business. You can collect full payment, a deposit, or allow customers to book without paying, depending on your setup.
Step 5: Connect Acuity to Your Squarespace Website
Once your Acuity account is ready, open the page where you want customers to book.
Click: Edit → Add Block → Scheduling
Add the Scheduling Block and select the calendar or appointment type you want to display.
This works well for a dedicated Booking or Appointments page. You can also link a regular Squarespace button directly to your Acuity booking page.
Step 6: Add Booking Links Throughout Your Website
Make your booking page easy to find.
Consider adding a Book Now button to your:
Main navigation
Homepage
Services page
About page
Contact page
You can also add a booking button directly below an individual service. For example, if you're describing your 60-Minute Reiki Session, add a Book Your Session button right below it.
Step 7: Test Your Booking System
Before sending customers to your booking page, complete a test booking yourself.
Check that:
Appointment names and prices are correct
Durations and availability are correct
Your intake questions work
Payment works, if applicable
Confirmation emails are sent
Appointments appear on your calendar
The booking process works properly on mobile
Free & Affordable Scheduling Options
Acuity isn't your only option. If you're just starting out or don't want another monthly subscription, there are several third-party scheduling platforms that can connect to Squarespace.
The simplest setup is usually:
Squarespace website → Book Now button → Scheduling platform → Customer books
Calendly
Calendly offers a free plan and works well for simple appointment types such as:
Discovery calls
Consultations
Coaching sessions
One-on-one meetings
You can link a Squarespace button to your Calendly booking page or embed Calendly directly into a Squarespace page.
Setmore
Setmore offers a free plan with basic appointment scheduling features and can work well for small service-based businesses.
You can link customers to your Setmore booking page from Squarespace or use its available embed options.
Square Appointments
If you already use Square for payments, Square Appointments offers a free plan for individuals.
You can send customers from your Squarespace website to your Square booking page using a button or navigation link.
This can be useful if you're already using Square for your business payments.
SimplyBook.me
SimplyBook.me has a free plan with limitations on bookings and features. It's designed for businesses that need a more traditional appointment-booking system with multiple services and booking options. You can connect it to Squarespace with a link or available embed options.
Free plans and pricing can change, so check each platform's current plan before choosing one. Pay particular attention to limits around bookings, appointment types, calendars, reminders, payments, and integrations.
Linking a Third-Party Scheduler to Squarespace
You don't necessarily need a special Squarespace integration to use another scheduling platform.
If your scheduler gives you a booking page URL, simply create a button in Squarespace and link to it.
If the platform provides embed code, you may also be able to add it to your Squarespace page using a Code Block.
For most small businesses, linking to the external booking page is the simplest setup and requires the least maintenance.
